society sees incest as child molestation and rape, not as a consensual act between two adults who have come to care for each other romantically as well as in a familial sense. i have known cousins that have gotten married and love each other more passionate than any “non-related” couple i’ve ever met. and it’s not like they go into this relationship thinking they’re just going to have children all willy-nilly like most couples do. they get tested and make sure everything’s okay and that they’re not passing down faulty genes, which every couple fixing to have children should look into because it’s not only incestuous couples birthing children with defects and diseases.

i only wish society could separate the incest that is FORCED and NON-CONSENSUAL, from the incest that is CONSENSUAL and MUTUAL. i’m not holding my breath for it, but i am kind of planting seeds in the people i know that are on the fence about it, stressing the term CONSENSUAL because THAT is the true problem with incest and its taboo status.
